Summary: Bullying is part of teenage life at Paul Varderman's high school. But life turns very nasty when Roth, the school's worst bully, forces Paul to deliver a message from Roth to the leader of a gang at a nearby school. This fuels a rivalry with immediate consequences. although Paul tries to distance himself from this feud, when Roth hands him a knife which makes Paul feel both frightened and empowered.
