Summary: The Pacific Ocean is the biggest and deepest of the world's oceans, covering almost a third of Earth's surface. Over 25,000 islands are dotted across its waters while, in the west, the huge Great Barrier Reef provides a home for some of Earth's most unique wildlife. Below the waves, the Pacific's active sea floor has created thousands of volcanoes, many of which are still active today. But like all the oceans, the mighty Pacific is at risk from climate change, pollution and marine industry.
